Diarrhea may be a sign of infection that should be addressed with your doctor if it persists.
There can be many reasons for diarrhea acute and chronic, including, but not limited to -
- Adrenal imbalance
- Bacterial Imbalance/Dysbiosis (often yeast)
- Nervous System/Constant Stress
- Autoimmune food reactivity
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Heavily processed diet, minimal fiber and too much fat
- Gallbladder removal and a need for bile support.

💡 Ways To Support Stopping Diarrhea
- Remove coffee, alcohol and all stimulants!
- Take Saccharomyces Boulardii - this works great for acute diarrhea, and we do use it in cases of antibiotic associated diarrhea and severe infections like C. Diff (which can happen post antibiotic as well). 1-3 capsules 2-3 times per day depending on severity.
- BHI Diarrhea Relief Tablets - this is a safe, effective, natural remedy ideal for all ages, including children and seniors. Can also support abdominal cramping, colic and gas.
- Glutagenics by Metagenics - soothes, helps with motility, supports cell turnover which can speed up healing.
- Aloe Vera Juice - 1 oz before meals can be very soothing, if it aggravates diarrhea stop it.
- Teas - Ginger, peppermint, marshmellow root and chamomile tea.
- Ultra InflamX or Ultra GI Replenish - both are medical foods to support bringing down GI inflammation. If you are dealing with dysbiosis, do not use GI Replenish until you’re through the removal phase.
- BRAT Diet - banana, rice, applesauce, and toast can help slow down stools. Rice Water can also be used.
- Rehydrate with electrolytes to restore minerals lost (we love LMNT), but don’t chug water. Take small sips.
- Soluble fiber to slow down stool as soluble fiber absorbs (soaks up) fluid and can help lessen your diarrhea. Foods high in soluble fiber include: Applesauce, bananas (ripe), canned fruit, orange, grapefruit, boiled potatoes, oats, peas, beans, carrots and barley.
- May need to remove gluten and dairy temporarily.
- Cook all veggies and eat in moderate amounts, working your way back up to larger amounts as symptoms improve.
